While Iowa’s newest casino is opening this weekend in Riverside, the Diamond Jo casino that opened in April in Worth County is already in the process of expansion. General manager Jesus Aviles says they hit half of their projected first-year attendance goal in the first three months, showing the need for expansion.

Aviles says the expansion got underway three weeks ago. He says the hotel should be on-line by mid November and the construction over by the first quarter of next year. Aviles says they’re working as quickly as they can to get the expansion completed.
He says they need to take advantage of the warm weather to get the shell of the expansion up, so they can work indoors when it gets cold.

Aviles says they have to have the extra room to meet the needs of the customers. The expansion is adding 30-thousand square feet to the facility.
