A Waterloo man who was a suspect in a fatal stabbing in Cedar Falls last month is now charged with the killing. Nineteen-year-old Joseph Johnson was charged today with first-degree murder for the August 19th stabbing death of 18-year-old Treye Blythe of Ackley.

According to Cedar Falls police, Johnson was involved in an argument at a birthday party that night; he left but later returned with a knife. Police say, during a physical confrontation between several people, Johnson stabbed Blythe. Blythe later died at a local hospital. Johnson was arrested on August 27th and was being held in the Black Hawk County Jail for a probation violation. His bond is now set at one million dollars.
