The sentencing of Jesse Wendelsdorf on a federal drug conviction has been delayed. U.S. Attorney Kevin Fletcher says additional evidence has been presented by prosecutors, evidence that dealt with the quantity of drugs involved in the case, which has a bearing on the sentence, in the federal system. Judge mark Bennett gave both sides ten days to file additional briefs. A date will be set for oral arguments on what was presented, and a ruling follows that, so no date has been set for the sentencing. Wendelsdorf remains in federal custody.

Wendelsdorf was acquitted in July 2000 in one of the state’s most high-profile child-abuse cases, the slaying of toddler Shelby Duis. The child’s mother is serving fifty years. That case has no connection to Wendelsdorf’s arrest in November 2003 for making and selling methamphetamine.
