It is impossible to replace a quarterback like Vince Young but a pair of signal callers are getting action for Texas as the seventh rated Longhorns prepare for this weeks game against Iowa State.

Redshirt freshman Colt McCoy had three touchdown passes in a victory over Rice and true freshman Jevan Snead saw action as well. Texas coach Mack Brown says McCoy looked sharp. Brown says McCoy did not make a poor throw and they probably could have thrown more, but they wanted to work on the running game.

Texas has won the previous five games in the series but there have been a number of close games. He says they have great respect for Iowa State and what the team has become. Brown says they studied Iowa State last year as the Cyclones were a few plays away from facing his team in the Big 12 championship game.

Brown says he knows the Cyclones will be ready to play. He says Dan McCarney is a great motivator and a great coach.
