Iowa State opens the Big-12 race at defending national champion Texas. Cyclone coach Dan McCarney says the offense needs to find a way to sustain drives. McCarney says they’ve had very few plays on defense as they force a lot of three-and-outs for the other team’s offense.

With new quarterbacks the Longhorns have focused on the running game more and McCarney says an outstanding offensive line paves the way. McCarney says the line is massive physical and athletic and they have good backs and good team speed.

McCarney says playing on the road last week should help the Cyclones against Texas. He says they know more about the team after being in a tough environment. McCarney says they know how the new starters will respond to that environment.
