In class 3A the lead in district one is on the line when seventh ranked Spencer visits number three LeMars. For Spencer this will be a chance for a second straight big road victory after the Tigers won at Sioux City Heelan last week. Spencer coach Jim Tighe says they like going on the road as it brings them together as a team and makes them more unified.

LeMars coach Jim Boyd says this is another in a string of big games for his team. He says the first four weeks everyone they’ve played has been undefeated, and he says they like that because it has a playoff feeling. Boyd says if you don’t like those kind of games, then you just don’t like high school football.

In class 4A top ranked Bettendorf is on the road to play number eight Muscatine. The Bulldogs have averaged 43 points per game and have given up only seven points all year. Muscatine coach Brian Sauser says the Bulldogs string of success is impressive. Sauser says Bettendorf takes everybody’s best shot for nine straight weeks and he says you have to give them credit for taking those shots.

Bettendorf standout receiver Colin Sandeman filled in at quarterback last week in a victory over Burlington and Sauser says that has made the Muskie’s preparation even tougher. He says they don’t know if Sandeman is going to play quarterback or receiver, and that makes it tough to prepare.
