The Iowa County Sheriff say the North English schools were locked down this afternoon as a precautionary move. Sheriff Nick Roggentien says a former student who hasn’t been seen for about three weeks made threats that were passed on to school personnel, and they decided it’d be wise to lock doors at the high school.
Deputies went to the school just to make sure there was no incident, and the sheriff says once students left at the end of the school day, administrators would be making a decision on holding classes tomorrow (Wednesday).
About 245 students are enrolled at the English Valleys Junior and Senior High School, which serves the communities of Webster, Kinross, South English and North English, all located about thirty miles southwest of Iowa City in Iowa and Keokuk Counties.
