The race in class 1A district four will go down to the final night of the season to determine which teams move on. Their are a number of different possibilities but the goal for fourth rated Aplington-Parkersburg is clear. Aplington-Parkersburg coach Ed Thomas says all they have to do is beat Starmont to get into the playoffs. He says with five playoff caliber teams the district race has been as tough as expected.

Thomas says Dike-New Hartford is the only team that has a chance to go undefeated, and they play host to tenth rated Gladbrook-Reinbeck.Gladbrook-Reinbeck coach John Olsen says both teams match up very well against each other and it will likely come down to special teams. Olsen says his team has played well to give itself a chance.

He says when you play four teams that have the tradition of the other teams in the district and to compete with them, Olsen says that feels pretty good.
Gladbrook-Reinbeck is 7-1 on the season and needs a win.
