Janesville makes a first ever appearance in the state high school football playoffs tonight. The Wildcats are ranked 10th in the Radio Iowa poll and visit number-nine ranked North Kossuth in a first round game in eight-man. Janesville coach Jason Sullivan says the town marked the occasion with a pep rally two nights ago. Sullivan says the community turnout was just amazing. Sullivan says it wasn’t a big surprise to see so many people out as they’ve had good support all year.

Sullivan says now that they are in the playoffs they hope to make some noise. Sullivan says the team has the potential to beat any team on any night if they play well. “We’re definitely ready to make a run,” he says.

Sullivan says it will be a tough matchup against a North Kossuth team that suffered its first loss in its regular season finale. He says they’re a solid ball club that has run into the injury bug lately and they don’t have the best depth. Sullivan says North Kossuth has the advantage in playoff experience and his team will have to make the two-hour bus ride to their home field and show up and play hard. Janesville is 7-2.
