Millions of dollars spent on political ads in Iowa could be for nothing if voters are discouraged from going to the polls by cold, rainy weather. Rod Donovan, a National Weather Service meteorologist, says most of Iowa should have a sunny day on Tuesday, what’s expected to be one of the warmest Election Days in some time.

While there are some clouds today, sunshine is expected Tuesday with temperatures rising into the 60s. Donovan says he can’t predict whether the forecast will be favorable to one political party or the other, but he does say most Iowans would likely vote for the weather that’s expected. He says tomorrow’s temperatures should be ten to 12-degrees above normal for this time of year — a big change from last week when temps were ten to 12-degrees below normal.

Donovan says cooler weather is inevitably on the way but not before there’s an additional warm-up.
He says Wednesday will likely be the warmest day of the week, with highs expected across much of Iowa in the upper 60s and lower 70s, before a cold front moves in late in the day on Wednesday.
