Northwestern College in Orange City is hoping to ease the concerns of parents and students with a price guarantee. Northwestern director of financial services, Jerry Korver, says they’ll begin offering the promise in the fall of next year. Korver says every freshman that comes in will get tuition at a cost that won’t change for five years.

Korver says this plan is different than others in that it guarantees tuition, room and board. Korver says operating costs do go up each year, but he says the school is confident it can make the guarantee and not end up short.

Korver says they believe they have enough history to “take a chance” by identifying the costs they need to run the college. Northwestern had a record enrollment of just over 13-hundred students last year, but Korver says they can handle more students look at the school.

Korver says retaining students was a big part of the record this year and he says this guarantee should help them retain even more students. And Korver says they believe they can handle and influx of new students too. Korver says the guarantee will give students and parents more peace of mind. Korver says usually a student comes in and gets a financial aid package the first year, and then the second year they get a letter saying tuition is going up. Korver says they haven’t set the tuition rate for the guarantee yet. He says tuition this year at the school is 23-thousand-506 dollars.
