The Iowa State men are 3-0 on their young season. Mike Taylor scored 14 points and had some key baskets down the stretch as the Cyclones held off Eastern Illinois 56-54, their third win in as many days.

Cyclone coach Greg McDermott says they were running on fumes especially in the second half, as he says they were back on their heals defensively. He says it was good to get the win as Eastern is a tough team to prepare for.

McDermott says considering the inexperience on the team he is pleased with the start. He says it was tough to line up freshman and junior college players for three straight games, and he says they handled it pretty well. McDermott says the players absorbed a lot of information in a short time, which he says shows they should be able to execute a game plan with a little more time to prepare.
