A Waterloo man is found guilty of first-degree murder. A Black Hawk County jury deliberated about eight hours before returning the verdict against Ramale Hunt. The jurors sided with prosecutors, who claimed Hunt killed 20-year-old Robert Robinson of Waterloo in a gang-related shooting in the parking lot of a now-closed downtown Waterloo bar two years ago.

Hunt fled the Cedar Valley following the June 2004 shooting and eluded authorities for nearly year. He was arrested by police near Phoenix, Arizona, in May 2005. The conviction ends a month-long murder trial that included more than 70 witnesses called to testify by the prosecution. Hunt faces life in prison with no possibility of parole. He?ll be sentenced at a later date.
