The central Iowa native who wore the Man of Steel’s famous cape in a big screen blockbuster this June will get to do so again. Twenty-seven-year-old Norwalk native Brandon Routh is being signed to do a sequel to “Superman Returns.”

The movie is this year’s fifth-biggest money maker in the U.S. and pulled in more than 391-million dollars worldwide. It’ll get another bounce this month as the D-V-D goes on sale November 28th both as a single disc and in a two-disc special edition.

There’s also a “Superman Returns” video game due out next week. Routh had done a few walk-ons in various TV shows and soap operas, but the Superman role sent him, faster than a speeding bullet, to Hollywood stardom. The sequel is expected on screens sometime in 2009.
