A tough stretch continues for the Iowa basketball team which visits Arizona State.

The Sun Devils are 2-2 after a 64-52 win over San Jose State. The Hawkeyes are 2-2 after back-to-back losses to Alabama and Villanova. “It’s a very demanding stretch for our guys,” says Iowa coach Steve Alford.

The Hawkeyes weaknesses were exposed in an 89-60 loss to Villanova. “It’s a long season. You know, we really do have to keep our heads up. We’ve got a lot of young guys who haven’t experienced three games in four days or road trips, ” says Hawkeye senior Adam Haluska. “This is big-time basketball. It’s not (junior colleage). It’s not high school. Collectively, as a group, we’ve got to come together more and show that toughness.”

Haluska has been mired in a shooting slump. “I’ve just really got to come out and concentrate, not worry about it, just make sure I get my feet set, get a little more arch on the ball,” Haluska says. “I’ll be ready to go at Arizona State.”
