Federal agents have arrested 25 illegal immigrants this week along the Iowa/Nebraska border.

It’s a revival of “Operation Return to Sender,” held back in May and June of this year. This month Immigration and Customs Enforcement targeted people who’d already been told to leave but had remained in the US. They were arrested in Sioux City, Omaha, and South Sioux City, Nebraska, and the agency says 20 of the people rounded up had final deportation orders.

They’re considered fugitives, though a lawyer with an advocacy group called “Justice for our Neighbors” says some are minors and some of the people rounded up had no prior criminal convictions.

“Operation Return to Sender,” originally conducted in a number of cities around the nation, is part of a well-publicized effort the government says is aimed at securing US borders and reducing illegal immigration.
