The French government is accusing a northeast Iowa chef of trafficking prostitution. Alexandre Martinov of Cedar Falls is scheduled to make his initial appearance in federal court on Friday. The Bulgaria native is accused of recruiting women from European countries for prostitution, and helping them enter France with credentials that he allegedly supplied. Martinov has been working as a chef at The Broom Factory, a popular Cedar Falls restaurant. He also did cooking segments as a resident chef on a Waterloo television station. Martinov was arrested Monday at the request of the French government. The investigation also involves the Iowa State Patrol, Division of Criminal Investigation, and United States Marshals. Martinov is facing charges of prostitution trafficking in France. Friday?s court hearing will determine if he should still be detained in the U-S.
