An eight-point-seven million dollar school bond issue passed overwhelmingly Tuesday in the Estherville area. There were 17-hundred “yes” votes for 82-percent compared to just 376 “no” votes for 18-percent.

The bond issue will help pay for a 12-million dollar building project, including a fifth-through-eighth grade addition at Estherville Lincoln Central High School and another addition at an elementary school for second grade, preschool and daycare. In January or February, voters countywide will be asked to extend the local option sales tax for ten years to pay for the project.
