Iowa’s next governor and First Lady have decided to hold inaugural events in western and eastern Iowa as well as in the state’s capitol city in central Iowa. At nine o’clock on Friday, January 12th, Chet Culver will be sworn in as Iowa’s next governor. That event will be held in Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

The inaugural ball will be held in the Varied Industries Building on the Iowa State Fairgrounds that evening. The kick-off events of inaugural weekend, however, will be held outside of central Iowa.

A “Western Iowa Luncheon” is planned in Sioux City on Thursday, January 11th. Later that afternoon in eastern Iowa there’ll be a reception in the Old Capitol in Iowa City. That’s to be followed by something new to inaugural festivities. The Culver camp’s calling it the “One Iowa Gala” concert and it’ll be held at Hancher Auditorium in Iowa City. On Saturday evening there’ll be an “interfaith celebration” in Des Moines to close inaugural festivities.
