The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has reworked and renamed its magazine. Brian Button is the editor of the new “Iowa Outdoors” magazine. Button says they’ve produced the “Iowa Conservationist” magazine for many years, and when it came time to revamp that publication, they met with a lot of Iowans to find out what they wanted to see in the magazine.

Button says they didn’t change everything. He says they’ve kept some perennial favorites such as “Warden’s diary” and features on hunting and fishing. Button says the most notable change is the new look that he says is more “bold” and “powerful.” Button says the new look includes more and bigger pictures. Button says they’ve added several features.

Button says one section is the “Together Section” that gives suggestions of things for couples to do. There’s also a “Lost in Iowa” section that looks at outdoor travel, taking readers around the state. Button says they have features for all ages. He says it will appeal to a wide diversity of Iowans of all ages, and says they’ve had “absolutely phenomenal” feedback on the new look. Button says they’re now taking subscriptions for the magazine.

Button says it comes out every two months, and subscription costs 12 dollars a year. You can call 1-800-361-8072, or go to: www.iowaoutdoorsmagazine.com to subscribe on-line. The first issue features a look at bald eagles up and down the Des Moines River.
