The Wartburg men’s basketball team plays its first official home game Wednesday night when the Knights take on Central in Iowa Conference action. The game won’t be played on campus, though.

With Wartburg’s new gymnasium under construction all of the Knight’s home games will be played at the West Gym at the University of Northern Iowa. Wartburg coach Dick Peth says they have a good enough relationship with U-N-I so they can use the facility. Peth says it hasn’t been easy commuting, but he says the short commute back and forth from Cedar Falls has helped build team chemistry.

Instead of showing up to practice, there’s 20 minutes of time where the players are together as they drive to practice. Peth says that should help them in the long run.

Wartburg is 6-4 overall and 0-1 in the Iowa Conference. Central is 4-5 overall and 1-0 in the league race.
