Authorities in the Quad Cities have an unidentified body on their hands. Scott County Sheriff’s Captain LeRoy Kunde says deputies were called over the weekend to a rural area just west of Davenport. He says it was Saturday around four in the afternoon when they got a call reporting "suspicious activity."

It’s out in a rural area in the western part of Scott County, he explains, near a mobile home park that’s called Lake Canyada. Captain Kunde says the body was found in a rural area, about two miles west of the Lake Canyada mobile home park. Since the body’s unidentified, they don’t yet know if it matches any missing-persons reports so far. "Right now we have an unidentified female," the officer says.

An autopsy is being done in Rockford, Illinois. Until the results are in, probably by Tuesday, officials will not speculate on who the dead woman might be. Kunde says some cases are a lot easier than this. "We’ll really have roll up our sleeves and we’re going to have to do some hard work. And a little luck." Authorities aren’t saying how long the body might have been there or whether there was any I.D. For now, Scott County authorities say they’ll handle it as a murder case.
