Iowa State basketball coach Greg McDermott says the Cyclones need to get stronger if they hope to take the next step in the Big-12 Conference.

The Cyclones are 2-3 in the league race after a 69-60 loss at home to Kansas State and McDermott says they will get stronger as a youg team matures.

McDermott says the team has worked in the weight room, and gotten stronger, but they still aren’t as strong as they need to be. One prime example is guard Mike Taylor who at six foot two inches weighs in at only 165 pounds. McDermott says defensively Tayler gets knocked out of position and he needs to get as strong as he possibly can. The Cyclones return to action this weekend at Oklahoma State.
