The St. Ambrose women have the lead at the halfway point of the Midwest Classic Conference race. The Queen Bees are 7-0 in conference play after a Wednesday night victory over William Penn and second year coach Amy Eagan says experience has been a major factor with seven seniors she calls great leaders.

Defense is a strength. St. Ambrose is yielding only 61 points per game. Eagan says you can’t control if the ball will go into the basket, and on a poor shooting night you need to play better defense. They may have the lead in the conference race but Eagan believes things will get tougher in the second half. She says they’ve beaten everyone once, and she expects the other teams to make changes to try and knock them off. St. Ambrose visits Viterbo on Saturday.
