A Mason City woman is spending time in jail because her daughter has missed too much school. Forty-one-year-old Sherri Sadler has been sentenced to 14 days for violating the state’s compulsory school attendance law. She was sentenced on Monday after her sixth conviction on the charge.

In the most recent case, Sadler was convicted of not sending her 15-year-old daughter to school for the required number of days during the first quarter of the school year. Sadler’s first conviction was in January 2005. She was convicted two more times in 2005, and twice in 2006.
