A rural Newhall couple has been identified the victims of a deadly two-vehicle accident in rural Linn County. It happened at about eight p.m. at the intersection of two county roads near Fairfax. An-SUV driven by 22-year-old Adam Schulte of Walford failed to yield at the intersection and collided with a car driven by 66-year-old Herbert Kearns of Newhall.
Kearns and his passenger, 66-year-old Beverly Kearns, were pronounced dead at the scene. Schulte was taken to a Cedar Rapids hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. The Linn County Sheriff’s Department says charges are pending.
