The boys’ state basketball tournament wrapped up late Saturday evening as top-seeded Lin-Mar of Marion easily downed 7th seeded Bettendorf 61-41 to take the class 4A state title. Lin-Mar was led by Jordan Printy who had 18 points, and avenged a 2005 loss to Bettendorf in the title game. Lin-Mar has now finished first, second, fourth and first in the last four years.

Printy was named the captain of the 4A all-tournament team and was joined by teammate Grant Gibbs. Urbandale’s Ethan Freeman was also named to the team for the Jayhawks who finished fourth. Kaylon Williams of Cedar Rapids Kennedy and Charlie Schwartz of Bettendorf rounded out the all-tournament squad.

Waverly Shell-Rock senior Clayton Vette was dominant throughout the 3A tournament and continued that in the championship game as he led his Go-Hawks to their first state title since 1944 in a 74-51 win over Sioux City Heelan. Vette had 18 points and 14 rebounds in the win. Vette was named the co-captain of the 3A all-tournament team. Kyle Haake of Harlan was the other co-captain, and Nick Wagner of Grinell, Clint Sargent and Brennan Cougill of Sioux City Heelan rounded out the team.
