Authorities have identified the person killed in a weekend crash in north-central Iowa. The Iowa State Patrol investigated a two-vehicle accident in Hardin County shortly before 9:30 Friday night that claimed the life of a Hampton motorist and brought injuries to two individuals. The name of the fatality was identified as 88-year-old Vern Ritzman.

Reportedly the Ritzman car was heading northbound on Highway 65 just north of Hubbard when he failed to negotiate the curve, crossing the center line and struck a southbound pickup driven by 34-year-old Aaron Ingebritson of Hubbard. Vern Ritzman was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

 A passenger in the Ritzman car, 85-year-old Naomi Fay Ritzman of Hampton, along with Aaron Ingebritson were taken to Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls for treatment of their injuries. The accident remains under investigation by the State Patrol and Hardin County Sheriff’s Department.
