Cedar Rapids police have now charged two people in connection with an incident in March in which two pit bull dogs attacked and killed a neighbor’s dog. Twenty-six-year-old Darnell Martin and 21-year-old Amber Kelly, who both live in Cedar Rapids, were charged with two counts each of harboring a vicious animal, two counts each for allowing their dogs to run at-large, and one count each of interference with official acts for removing the dogs from their homes before police and animal control officers arrived, and then lying about their dog’s involvement.

The attack happened March 24th when the two pit bulls allegedly ran across the street and attack and killed a schnauzer owned by Tim Comried of Cedar Rapids. Both dogs were eventually seized by animal control and will not be released. Two pit bull puppies were also confiscated. Martin and Kelly will make their initial court appearance on May 2nd.
