The Iowa House and Senate have passed resolutions honoring Iowa native and 2007 Masters Champion Zach Johnson. On Easter Sunday, Johnson became the first Iowa golfer to win the coveted green jacket and one-point-three million dollar prize.

David Johnson of Cedar Rapids, his father, was at the statehouse Monday to accept the honor on his son’s behalf. He said his son has felt the love of Iowans."I think those poor players on Sunday on Easter felt the negative vibes from all the Iowans here and across the country so they didn’t really have a chance," Dave Johnson says. "Zach just really played well and everybody was just giving him all the positive vibes from back home."

The resolution called Johnson "a Midwest guy from Iowa whose open and friendly manner, dedication to his craft, and understated competence embody the qualities that are so dear to Iowans."
