A man from the northwest Iowa town of Hawarden is sentenced to serve more than a year in prison for making threats. The U.S. Attorney says 19-year-old Joshua Iverson pled guilty to mailing a threatening letter and making threats against President Bush’s family.

Prosecutors say Iverson was interviewed by Social Security investigators last year. They were looking into a threatening letter mailed to a disability examiner. Agents returned to Iverson’s home five days later and charged him, then found an unmailed letter that appeared to threaten President Bush and his family.

After an interview by the Secret Service, Iverson was also charged with threatening the president. He’s ordered to spend 16 months in prison for the two threats and faces three years of probation with mental health supervision.
