The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is asking for information on how Iowans use streams and rivers. The DNR’s Adam Schneiders says they’re taking a survey to see how people use streams for recreation. He says the survey has a few short questions asking how people use the streams. Schneiders says this is part of the state’s revision of its water quality standards.

Schneider says they’re trying to get a better idea of where people recreate, so they know how to better protect Iowa’s waters. Schneiders says it’s easy to fill out the survey. Schneiders says you can surf to the DNR’s website and then click on the water quality standards webpage to fill out the survey. Schnieders asks that people submit surveys by May 15 to assist with the development of a new database, but encourages Iowans to submit information throughout the year as they visit different streams.
