Next Month’s John Deere Classic PGA event near the Quad Cities will feature a mix of veterans and newcomers. Reigning Master’s champion Zach Johnson will be the biggest draw other veterans like Bernhard Langer, Paul Azinger and Kenny Perry are also in the field.

Tournament director Clair Peterson who says the tournament has a history of returning veterans who have had success on tour and enjoy coming back. Peterson says it has always been a place where young players can jump start their careers. The past two champions, Sean O’Hair and John Senden are examples of that.

O’Hair has had a good year, almost winning the Players Tournament and did well Memorial and Senden won the Australian PGA championship. O’Hair says they’ll have a lot of qualifying school players who’ll come to the tournament playing well.

Peterson says the success Zach Johnson has enjoyed this season is a plus for the tournament. He says having the reigning Masters champion is great, but they also have other past champions of major tournaments, which stacks up to be a great field. The John Deere Classic is July 12th through the 15th.
