The University of Iowa Presidential search committee has identified two of the five finalists to replace former president David Skorton.

Dr. Phillip Furmanski will be in Iowa City on Monday for a public interview. He’s currently the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at Rutgers in New Jersey. He previously was chair of the department of biology and served as a professor of pathology at New York University School of Medicine.

On Tuesday, the search committee will interview Mark Becker, the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost at the University of South Carolina. He previously served as the Dean of Public Health at the University of Minnesota.

The remaining three candidates will be announced early next week.
