Bob Husz A cancer survivor is travelling across Iowa on an old tractor this week to raise money for cancer research. It’s the second year Bob Husz  has made the trip. Last year, his wife and grandchild passed out donation cards, while Husz drove his tractor on Highway 92. The effort raised nearly 9,000 dollars toward cancer research.  Husz says anybody who’s been through cancer treatment knows it’s tough and he hopes someday researchers will find a cure.

Husz’s tractor is a 1952 Ford that he rebuilt while undergoing chemotherapy treatment for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. "I rebuilt this tractor when I wasn’t feeling too good," Husz says, "and I said I’m going to drive this tractor across Iowa to raise money to help my doctor find a cure."

Husz and his wife have four grandchildren, and they plan to make the tractor ride the next two years, taking one grandchild each year. All of the money raised from the week long journey will go toward cancer research at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

This year, Husz will be travelling on Highway 34 in southern Iowa, stopping in towns like Glenwood, Creston, Chariton, Ottumwa, and Mount Pleasant. More information about the tractor ride can be found on-line at www.TractorRideAgainstCancer.com .
