A Cedar Rapids-area family learned last night they’d won a $50,000 prize for playing along with a new TV game show. The ABC program "National Bingo Night" lets viewers download bingo cards and play at home. Tim Grove, of Hiawatha, managed to get a winner with the first try last week.
Tim Grove says, "My numbers were B-4, I-30, N-38, G-57, and O-65, Bingo!" His wife, Faye Grove, says she was skeptical when she first learned of her husband’s desire to play the TV game from home.
Faye Grove says: "He said ‘Would you like to play bingo Friday night?’ and I said ‘What do you mean play bingo?’ Normally we wouldn’t play bingo. All you have to do is print out the bingo sheets and play along as it’s on."
She says the winnings will help the Groves fix a few car problems and celebrate 35 years of marriage in August. She says she’d like to do something special to mark that occasion. The Grove family will be featured on Friday night’s episode of the national program.
