An eastern Iowa woman is in a coma after an apparent case of road rage led to a violent attack. Davenport police say it started early Sunday morning when the driver of one car honked at another car as it was backing up. It led to a chase that ended in a downtown parking lot.

Seven people reportedly jumped out of the first car with tire irons and golf clubs, smashing the windows of the other car and pulling its three occupants out and beating them. Two men and a woman were hurt.

While the men were treated and released, the unidentified 22-year-old Scott County woman was admitted to a Davenport hospital Tuesday for a head injury and Wednesday, was placed in a drug-induced coma. Two of the seven alleged attackers were caught: 26-year-old Patrick Hughes of Bettendorf and 27-year-old Brett Housley of Davenport are charged with assault.
