Lofty expectations have not bothered the Cherokee baseball team this season. The Braves have been to the state tournament the the last two years and an experienced team is off to a 22-1 start and top ranked in the 2A Radio Iowa/Coaches poll.

Cerokee coach Scott Koch says they have a couple of senior leaders who are very rah, rah, but do a great job. Koch says even with the expectations he did not expect his team to win 22 of its first 23 games. He says it’s hard to imagine having that record with some tough games. Koch says you always hope to do your best and have a good record at the end of the year, but one way or another, the team has found a way to win.

A deep pitching staff gives the Braves confidence, as he says that lets them know they have a chance in every game. Cherokee puts its unbeaten Lakes Conference record on the line Friday night with a visit to Spencer.
