It won’t be a face-to-face meeting, but two of the leading Democratic presidential candidates will be in Des Moines tomorrow at exactly the same time.

On Saturday afternoon Hillary Clinton’s campaign made the following announcement: Clinton will deliver a policy speech on Iraq on Tuesday at 10 o’clock in the Temple for the Performing Arts in downtown Des Moines.

On Monday morning, Obama’s campaign announced Obama would be hosting a town hall meeting in Des Moines at the same time at DMACC’s Urban Campus. He’ll talk about economic issues, including how — in Obama’s words — spending “$250 million each day on the war in Iraq has hurt America’s ability to help working families.”

The two venues for the two candidates are just under a mile and a half apart. According to MapQuest, it would take five minutes to drive from one to the other.
