Davenport police are looking for a man after a young child was severely beaten. Davenport police say emergency crews were called to a residence where a two-year-old boy was unresponsive and appeared to have suffered a severe beating. The child was taken to a Davenport hospital and then airlifted to University Hospitals in Iowa City in serious condition.

The boy’s mother, 24-year-old Lizabeth Garcia, was arrested and charged with child endangerment with serious injury. Garcia told police that the injuries happened as long as three days ago when she left the child in the care of her boyfriend, but that she did not seek medical attention for the child because she was afraid that the Iowa Department of Human Services and the police would get involved.

Police are searching for the boyfriend, 27-year-old Herman Carl Morris, who also has gone by the names James Dozier or James Williams. Morris is currently wanted on arrest warrants unrelated to child abuse. It is believe he may be driving a green, 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme four-door with an Iowa license plate number 5-2-0-S-I-N.
