Zach Johnson tees off tomorrow morning in the opening round of the John Deere Classic near the Quad Cities. The Cedar Rapids native is the reigning Masters Champion and wherever he goes is a favorite among native Iowans in the gallery.

Johnson says he loves where he is from and loves coming back. Johnson says if he wasn’t a professional golfer, he’d be the person following the golfers outside the ropes as a fan. Johnson is one of the biggest names at the John Deere Classic which has trouble drawing the biggest stars.

The Deere Classic is the week before the British Open and many of the top competitors want to take this week off. Johnson says that’s understandable, and it doesn’t matter because there is a lot of talent out there.

Johnson is looking for a good score this weekend after taking the last two weeks off. He literally didn’t touch a golf club for 14 days and says it was "interesting," but now he is back to reality and has to get things cooking. John Daly is also in the field which includes defending champion John Senden.
