An Iowan, who’s an expert on Multiple Sclerosis, will be leading a webcast tonight regarding MS and it’s affect on relationships. Doctor Bruce Hughes is Director of the Mercy Ruan Neurology and Neuroscience Center in Des Moines.

The title of his talk is "Battle of the Sexes" and will focus on the different ways MS affects men and women. The webcast will include possibly 1,000 participants, mostly MS patients, their family members, and caregivers. "We’ll discuss relationship issues unique to the health and well-being of MS patients and their partners," Dr. Hughes says, "like anger management, sex and intimacy, things like that."

Hughes founded the MS research center in Des Moines back in 1995. He says there have been significant developments in treating the disease over the past two decades. Hughes says there are now six FDA approved treatments for MS. Multiple Sclerosis is a disease of the central nervous system and it affects around 400,000 Americans.

Tonight’s live webcast will include a question and answer session with Dr. Hughes and anyone interested in participating can visit: www.MSpathways.com/webcasts . The entire program will be recorded and remain on the site for future viewing.
