The biggest names in Iowa State basketball gather in Ames this weekend to remember one of their own. There will be a number of events leading up to Saturday’s All-Star celebrity game in Hilton Coliseum and all the proceeds will be donated to the family of Barry Stevens. The former Cyclone star died of a heart attack in February at the age of 43.

Ex-Cyclone star Jeff Grayer has helped organize the event and says Stevens was a role model on and off the court. Grayer says Stevens always talked about not putting the sport in front of academics. He says Stevens provided a great example that should be held in high esteem.

Grayer says Stevens was prideful in athletics, but was also full of pride in the classroom. He says Stevens had the same passion and drive off the court as he did on the court. Friday morning there will be a golf event at the Harvester Course and later on a youth clinic in Ames.
