A professional boxer from Davenport is now facing charges after a fight Sunday in a supermarket parking lot that left him with a gunshot wound. Davenport police say boxer Antwan Echols was in the parking lot of the store along with 34-year-old Stevie Hodges when they were confronted by another person and fight broke out.

The 35-year-old Echols suffered a minor gunshot wound to his leg. Upon his release from the hospital, police arrested Echols on a charge of possession of crack cocaine, and four Scott County warrants involving outstanding child support.

The man Echols was helping, Stevie Hodges, was charged with possession of crack cocaine and disorderly conduct. Police say they man who shot Echols is 35-year-old James Lee Grant. They’ve issued warrants for Grant on charges of willful injury, going armed with intent, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
