Republican presidential candidate Tommy Thompson, the former governor of Wisconsin, wrapped up his 99 county tour of the state with a stop in Audubon yesterday.

"It’s a fact that nobody has worked as hard as I have in Iowa. Nobody’s been to as many places. Nobody’s gone to all the counties," Thompson says. "I think the people in Iowa will respond to that."

Thompson is hoping for a first or second place finish when Iowa Republicans cast votes at the Straw Poll in Ames on August 11th.

"I have as good a chance as Mitt Romney has to come out on top. I know we’re working both very hard," Thompson says. "He’s got a hundred people. I’ve got ten. He’s spent $5 million and I’ve spent $200,000 and we’ll see who comes out on top."

Thompson has said he will drop out of the race if he does not finish at least 2 nd in the poll. So far this year, Thompson has spent the most campaign days in the state of all the Republican candidates.
