A former northeast Iowa man has been charged with hunting with a fraudulent license. Thirty-six-year-old Reece Hills, formerly of Elgin and now living in Fairview, Pennsylvania, is being charged with two counts of fraud for applying for resident hunting licenses while being a resident of Pennsylvania.

He is also charged with two counts of games violations for allegedly killing a wild turkey on one of the fraudulent hunting licenses in the spring turkey season of 2007, and attempting to take a deer in 2006 on a fraudulent license. All the violations occurred in northeast Iowa.

The investigation began in April after the DNR received complaints from local northeast Iowa residents. Pennsylvania authorities are conducting their own investigation to determine if Hills received improper licenses there. When obtaining a license from the DNR, a person may not claim residency in two states at the same time. Also, crossing state lines to commit hunting or fishing violations and transporting game over state lines are federal offenses.
