A couple of communities, located in central and western Iowa, are serving up loads of sweet corn during town celebrations today. Iowans can visit Adel or Griswold to get their fill of corn on the cob. Griswold Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Janet Taylor explains how they prepare for the annual "Old Tyme Corn Boil."

She says area men pick the corn on Friday and take it to the Griswold Care Center, where the residents prepare it for the boil. In past years, they’ve shucked about 400 ears. Taylor says people come from all over Iowa, and beyond, to enjoy the freshly picked sweet corn.

She says a man called her from the Bahamas last week, explaining that he would be staying in Panora this week and wanted to know the best way to get to Griswold. In Adel, the sweet corn is free today, but it usually goes fast during the annual "Adel Sweet Corn Festival." Both communities also have other activities planned, including 5K runs, music, games, and children’s activities.
