A state trooper who shot a man accused of trying to run him over last February is now being investigated after some questions about the trooper’s blood-alcohol content at the time of the incident.Defense attorneys yesterday questioned Trooper Mark Domino’s credibility during the trial of William Flippo Junior of Cedar Falls.

Flippo is accused of trying to run over Domino during a February 16th chase that ended just south of Charles City. Evidence presented yesterday shows that Domino’s blood-alcohol level was point-zero-three when he fired four shots at Filippo, with one shot striking him in the head. The Iowa Department of Public Safety says it will investigate whether or not Domino had violated department policy.

Floyd County Attorney Jesse Marzen says that investigation shouldn’t change the case against Filippo. Both sides presented evidence to Floyd County Judge John Mackey yesterday, and he’ll make his ruling in the case within 60 days.
