A new era begins this season at Waldorf where a new coach gets set to lead the Warrior football team. Greg Youngblood took over after long-time coach David Bolstorff retired after 39 years at the helm. Youngblood takes over a program in transition. The Warriors will begin play in the Mid States Football Association in 2009.

Youngblood says they want to establish their vision to play at a competitive standard and they understand what it means to compete and be successful. Youngblood says a key for the program is building more depth, as they haven’t had a lot of numbers since changing over to a four-year school.

Experience is a big plus in the sport of football and Youngblood says they need to keep players in the program to be successful. He says the successful small college programs don’t recruit blue chip athletes, they build them. Youngblood says you have to improve all your players to have success.

The Warriors get an early start to the season on Saturday when they host William Penn.
