A national security specialist says the foiled terrorist plot to attack an American Air Base in Germany proves the level of hatred toward the United States has increased since 9-11. Scott Bates is the Vice President and Senior Fellow for National Security at the Center for National Policy in Washington D.C.

Bates says the plot points out that the U.S. is still under threat from Al-Qaeda and some of our actions oversees have fueled the fire of radical jihadi terrorism. Bates says the plot grim evidence of the hatred against the U.S.

Bates says it’s "very disturbing" as severe converts to Islam were inspired by a jihadi website that was actually based in Bates says the key to winning the war on terror is to develop a better intelligence system. He says it includes working with allies across the globe that share common interests in defeating Al-Qaeda.

Bates will visit Des Moines and Muscatine next week as a guest of the Iowa Chapter of the National Security Network. He made his comments on today’s ‘The Exchange’ on Iowa Public Radio.
